Another Leo Celebrates

Isa, my daughter just celebrated her 35th birthday. She was 10 years old when I was 35. I had just turned 25 a few days before I gave birth to her 11 days to be exact. Yes, I am 60.

She celebrated with 13 of her close friends at the Slanted Door in San Francisco. This restaurant has been a phenomenal success.

This article was written in 2003 and the restaurant was already six years old then, it was established in 1997. I’m not sure whether the move to the Ferry Building was even in their radar at the time. The Ferry Building location opened 3 years ago.

Isa and I had eaten lunch at the Mission location some 7 or 8 years ago and it had already been a restaurant buzz for a couple of years. Thus lunch, it was hard to get a reservation even then.

It was certainly a fun night. The weather was impeccable. The bay was so calm in reflected like a mirror. The night was warm. Most of us came via Bart so the walk back after being satiated with exuberant morsels of food dancing in our bellies to the Market Street Bart Station was such a pleasure.
